PUERTO ALEGRE'S STORY
Our
STORY
Puerto Alegre is a family business existing in the Mission District, in San Francisco for over 50 years.
A legacy business soon to be registered as one.
Before Puerto Alegre, the families of 4 Vigil brothers worked together to develop recipes and service concepts that one of the brothers, Ildefonso Vigil and his family would take and use to create Puerto Alegre.
Since
1970
Later, 20 years into the 45 years of Puerto Alegre, Ildefonso transferred the business to his next generation, (4 of his children) where they too followed similar suit and again, 4 siblings working together taking Puerto Alegre from a 9 table restaurant to what it is today.
Puerto Alegre is world known and famous for its amazing margaritas, Pozole Verde and as many a customer note, a “hommy and unpretentious atmosphere” providing awesome customer service.

The 4 siblings, Amparo, Lorenzo, William and Patricia Vigil attribute the success of the restaurant to their ability and willingness to work hard, which they learned from their parents, in addition to making Puerto Alegre their home welcoming all that visit and providing delicious authentic Mexican food and spirits for their guest.
